Canelo Cowboy Church

Statement of Faith

Scripture
We believe that all scripture--Old and New Testaments--are inspired by God and are inerrant. The Bible is the final authority on all matters.
Salvation
We believe that salvation comes, through grace, only by Jesus Christ. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. You must confess your sin and believe that Jesus died and rose again for the forgiveness of your sins.
Eternal Security
We believe once saved always saved. Once one has accepted God's forgiveness, through Christ, there is nothing that anybody can do to take away his salvation.
Baptism
We believe that baptism, by submersion, is a testimony of salvation and although it is an act of obedience to Christ it has no bearing on salvation.
The Church
We believe that the church is a self-governing body of believers that is under the authority of God and His word, the Bible. We believe that the church is commissioned to teach and evangelize; it is also the church's responsibility to administer the ordinances of baptism and communion. We also believe that each and every member of the church is a unique and vital tool for ministry.
The Trinity
We believe there is one God, who was the creator of the universe, and He exists in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is God and was manifested into man for the purpose of salvation of mankind. We believe that He died for our sins and rose again on the third day and now sits at the right hand of God serving as an advocate for us.
The Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is an equal member of the Trinity. He seals the believer at the time of salvation. The Spirit does the work of conviction of sins and lives inside of every believer helping them to understand scripture and walk in unity with God. We believe that the Spirit gives each and every believer a spiritual gift to be used for the edification of the body and the glorification of God. We do not believe in the modern day use of the "sign gifts".
Evangelism
We believe in the imminent return of Christ, and that it is the duty of each and every believer to spread the Gospel until Christ returns.
Satan
We believe that Satan is a fallen angel and the ruler of this world. He is alive and well and wants to take as many people to hell with him as possible. We believe he is the accuser of the saints and wants to be a stumbling block to them. We also believe that all Christians have power over Satan through God and that one day Satan will be bound by God and cast into the lake of fire forever.
